Last Saturday, all four of RMZ’s lions were VERY interested in the African Wild dogs, just a few metres away!
The dogs were being fed, and obviously the smell of the fresh meat was like a dinner bell ringing for the lions, who live in adjacent enclosures.
This magnificent male lion is about 240 Kg in weight, as big as a lion gets! He is now about 8 years old, I think I remember reading, and definitely in the peak of his powers.
And he has three other magnificent males to keep him company in the Lion Park at Royal Melbourne Zoo (RMZ), Parkville,Victoria, Australia.
And in fact, all four lions are brothers from the same litter, born at RMZ. I can remember seeing them as little balls of fluff….boy have they grown!

Another image of my friend at the baitshop. This is a snowy egret. It is all upset that the shrimp have disappeared and the other birds are in his space. I just love the look on its face. It was looking at me with its head and neck straight up and down and then all of a sudden just leaned over to the left for just a minute and I was able to snap a couple shots. I hope ya’ll like this one.
